In the mid-nineties of the last century in the aftermath of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani taking office in the country the foreign politics in Qatar took another direction and followed a new track that enhanced its international status and enabled it to participate in making policies instead of following them, let alone the independence of its political decision as a result of the internal reforms witnessed in the country in the last two decades.
