The Saudi-Iranian relation witnessed many enticements which led tension in the relation most of the time. During Shah rule, the relation was subject to the then occurring issues in the region. After the Egyptian intervention in Yemen by Gamal Abdel Nasser, there was cooperation between the Shah regime and Saudi Arabia. Then, there was tension once again in 1971 following the English departure from Bahrain because of Iran’s demand to annex Bahrain to its rule and while Bahrain emir sided with Saudi Arabia.
