Abstract:

The coming legislative elections in Algeria gains importance due to the position the parliament occupies in the political process and due to its participation in making legislations and enacting laws and its role in forming the government according to the last constitutional amendment despite the casting decisive word of the president of the republic in forming the government and its elements. Two years before the

Presidential elections, the legislative elections that will be held on the 4th of May form an important stage in specifying the would-be president given the hard health conditions of Abdelaziz Bouteflika which affect his chance of renewing his presidency for a fifth period as he took office in 1999. The last constitutional amendment allows the president to renew for one time only; this amendment is with irreversible effect.
